Field Trip for International Students in 2023
On Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 September, 35 international students participated in a field trip in Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures. The field trip has been canceled since 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and was able to resume this year for the first time in four years.
On day 1, the students observed a test run of the Linear Motor Car at the Linear Observation Centre, had lunch at the Izu Fruit Park, experienced indigo dyeing of handkerchiefs at the Traditional Hand Craft Arts Center, and toured one of the World Cultural Heritage Sites, “Miho no Matsubara”.
On the second day, they visited “Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine” by ropeway from Nihondaira Yume Terrace and had a green tea B.I.Y. experience at “KADODEOOIGAWA” in Shimada City.
Through the Japanese cultural experience and the places visited on this trip, students seemed to have had a fulfilling two days.
For this trip, four Japanese students prepared booklets in advance introducing the places they would visit, and three of them joined the trip to interact with the international students. The trip was a great opportunity to deepen exchanges with Japanese students new contacts between international students and new friendships among international students.
